Stop celebrating weakness

“You don’t have any problems — only this much has to be understood. This very moment you can drop all problems. Because they are your creations. Have another look at your problems: the deeper you look, the smaller they will appear. Go on looking at them and by and by they will start disappearing. Go on gazing and suddenly you will find there is emptiness — a beautiful emptiness surrounds you. Nothing to do, nothing to be, because you are already that.”

 Osho

Everybody today has problems. And having problems is normal in the views of our modern society. But correct me if I am maybe insane, didn’t people use to have problems in the past? It’s not like hardship has come along with the new brand of IPhone. But the difference between now and then is that now people are happy because they have problems, they think that problems make them interesting. People go to psychologists and psychiatrists more and more often and instead of trying to fight off the problems and become better, they are being taught to simply accept who they are.

NO NO NO! You should never accept who you are if who you are makes you sad and miserable. Negative emotions are not normal, because our normal state is that of joy. We are programed by nature to be happy and it takes a lot of work to be sad, so stop doing all this effort in order to not be happy. Having issues and scary thoughts and moral dilemmas doesn’t make you more special or more profound or more real, it just makes you unhappy. And why would anyone in their right mind want to be unhappy?

You will now tell me that it’s not your fault that you are unhappy, that events outside of you make you unhappy. That is bullshit, because being happy or being unhappy depends only on you. You can choose to be happy, you can choose to be unhappy, nobody is forcing you to feel what you don’t want to feel. Society has told you far too many times that it is ok to be unhappy, that is healthy to be unhappy, that you have to rejoice in your unhappiness because that makes you a better person.

But no, that’s not true, it’s an outright lie created by those who are too weak to change, by those who are unable to rise above their own petty existences. Being unhappy has nothing to do with being a better person, because the only goal that any person has to have in life is to be happy. That is the most important thing you have to do over the course of your life, to be happy, no matter what it takes. If you are happy working, then work, if you are happy sleeping all day, do that, if you want a relationship, have one, if you want to be alone, be alone. Just keep in mind that the only thing that matters is that you are happy.

Weakness and sensitivity should not be praised so much and it is time for our society to change as a whole. Instead of rallying together for that poor old little snowflake that cried last night because somebody sent him a mean tweet, let’s instead point out how weak he is and tell him to just toughen up and get over it. Natural selection is a normal phenomenon that we should not try so hard to circumvent. There are some people that simply can’t hack it and can’t succeed, too bad. Stop trying to adapt our society in order to help the weakest among us, or we will all pay the price. Learn to be stronger, learn to be powerful. Power is sexy!
